White Poplar Bark has been widely recognized as an anti-inflammatory and pain-reliever. It is often taken to treat arthritic and rheumatic aches and pains and is also know to lower fever, especially when this condition is associated with rheumatoid arthritis.
Being a stimulant, White Poplar Bark acts as a tonic remedy in the treatment of anorexia and other debilitated states. The bark's significant astringent and antiseptic qualities make it useful for treating diarrhea and the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, IBS. Also helpful for less than chronic diarrhea; as a quinine substitute, Poplar can be used to stimulate digestion and especially stomach and liver function, particularly where there is a loss of appetite.
White Poplar is also used to treat urinary tract infections and when used as a urinary system tonic, it has been considered useful for treating feverish colds and infections, such as cystitis. Other uses include debility of the female organs; painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea); urine incontinence; and mucus discharge from the bladder.
